This is just a reminder that we will have a science vocabulary quiz on Tuesday, November 19th. All students should have a study guide in their 4th grade binders. We will have our unit test following the Thanksgiving break. Thanks so much for your help at home! These are the words that will be on our quiz:

Food
Pyramid-one way of showing the food groups and how many
servings to eat from each group
fats-nutrients that
do not supply energy, although some kinds are needed to help get energy from
food
nutrient-a substance in
food that your body needs
vitamins-nutrients that
are needed by cells to carry out their activities
carbohydrates-sugars and
starches that your body uses for energy
calcium-a mineral that
is needed for building strong bones and teeth
Liver-releases bile into the digestive
system
Esophagus-tube that connects mouth with
stomach
Stomach-organ that is shaped like a
boxing glove
Mouth-digestion begins here
Small intestine-absorption of
nutrients and digested food occurs here
Large intestine-water is
absorbed from undigested food (waste) here
Pancreas-organ that releases digestive
juices into the small intestine
