Cloudy Days... :)

This week in the science lab we began our investigation of clouds.  We also explored a great weather website-www.weatherwizkids.com. :)

By using a 2-liter bottle, warm water, and matches, we were able to simulate cloud formation.

Clear skies...

And cloudy...

Then we created our own cotton ball cloud models-cumulus, stratus, and cirrus.

Lastly we made cloud models with shaving cream!

Back in our classroom we defined key cloud-related science terms, including water vapor, water droplets, and ice crystals.

Psalm 147:8-9
He covers the sky with clouds;
He supplies the earth with rain
and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle
and for the young ravens when they call.

Students Write the "Ninevah News!"

In Bible this month our 4th graders are discussing Jonah and Missions.  The students are working together to complete Bible-based newspaper articles about the life of Jonah entitled, "The Ninevah News!"

We love exploring God's Word together in class.  Our next Bible verse will be due Friday, September 27th.  It is Jonah 4:2, "You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and one who relents concerning calamity."

Recorder News from Mrs. Krejci

Mrs. Krejci has found a free website for students to practice recorders on. All that is needed is a computer with Internet connection, a microphone, and a recorder. She says students can play for free making an account for free. Email her at Mindy.krejci@fpdmacon.org with any questions. The site is http://www.joytunes.com/game.php. Happy playing! The site is added to our links on this blog.

Tablet Fun in Math!

The students enjoyed working on the wireless tablet some today during our math lesson. Technology always adds another fun dimension to the lesson.

Scientists at Work!

Today our 4th graders enjoyed using the Scientific Method in the science lab as they investigated surface tension!

The students:
1) Asked a question--How many drops of water will fit on a penny?
2) Hypothesized.
3) Experimented.
4) Observed and recorded their data.
5) Analyzed their findings.
6) Shared their results.

Here they are in action...
