Sharing "The Pumpkin Patch Parable"

Students had a great time reading together Liz Curtis Higgs' "The Pumpkin Patch Parable." This sweet children's story illustrates how a loving farmer can turn a simple pumpkin into a glorious sight. In the parable, the farmer picks out a pumpkin and scoops out all the messy "goo" to make room for his light to shine from inside. In the same way, God's transforming love can fill each of our hearts with joy and light. What a great biblical truth to share in such a fun way!

Bedtime Math Word Problem Website

Linked on the right with our other helpful math websites is a new FUN one that you and your child ought to take advantage of and  use each night for only 5 minutes. It is called bedtimemath.org. Please check it out! You will see that the tab "Today's Fun Math" has the problem of the day for students. Parents, if you read the tab "Here's the Proof" you will see documentation that validates the benefits for your children. I hope you and your child will use this to stretch math minds which encourages more "thinking outside the box."

Explorer Cut Outs--Class Reminder

Just a reminder that Explorer cut-outs are due next Friday, 11/6.  We can't wait to see all of these on display in the 4th grade hall.  Completed cut-outs may be brought in anytime in between now and the due date.  Please remind your child to include his/her name, as well as the explorer's name, on the back.  Thanks so much!!!

Backpack Ministry

Today Mrs. Bryant's class had the opportunity to pack snack bags for the FPD Backpack Ministry.  Each 4th grade class will have a chance to participate in this worthwhile task during this school year.
Mrs. Holly Scott shared with the children about this special food program that is such a blessing to so many in our local community.  A few pictures of our morning are included below.  If you are interested in donating to the Backpack ministry, there is a green tub located in the elementary building for snack drop-off.
